Q. What is Ignite Internship Programme?

A. Ignite Internship Programme is a Government of Kerala initiative, created with the objective of providing opportunities for candidates across Kerala, who are either fresh graduates or awaiting their final year results, and who wish to undertake an internship with any IT/ITES companies within the state.

Q. What are the benefits of Ignite Internship Programme?

A. Candidates will be offered a minimum monthly stipend of Rs 10,000 (which includes a government subsidy of Rs 5,000 per intern) by the recruiting company.

Q. Who offers internships under Ignite Internship Programme?

A. IT/ITeS companies based inside Kerala IT Parks or member of KSUM, GTech and CAFIT.

Q. Is Ignite an online internship or offline internship programme?

A. The platform of internship whether it is online, offline or hybrid is decided by the respective hiring companies.

Q. Will candidates receive a certificate after successful completion of Ignite Internship Programme?

A. Yes, a certificate is issued from Kerala IT to the candidates upon successful completion of the internship programme.

Q. Will a candidate get a monthly stipend under Ignite Internship Programme?

A. Yes, interns who are recruited by companies under Ignite Internship Programme will receive a minimum monthly stipend of Rs 10,000 (including the government stipend of Rs 5,000 per month per intern) for the duration of six months.

Q. How do candidates participate in Ignite Internship Programme?

A. A candidate shall enrol by registering on https://ignite.keralait.org/

Q. Who can apply for Ignite Internship Programme?

A. A candidate between 20-25 years of age, who is either a fresh graduate or awaiting their final results can apply.

Q. What is minimum age required to enrol for Ignite Internship Programme?

A. A candidate shall be at least 20 years of age on the date of application.

Q. What if a candidate is not able to complete the internship in a company under Ignite Internship Programme?

A. It is the discretion of the hiring company to decide whether the candidate shall receive certificates and stipend.

Q. How are candidates recruited for Ignite Internship Programme?

A. Candidates need to visit https://ignite.keralait.org/ and complete the registration formalities to be considered/shortlisted for the internship programme.

Q. Will a candidate be offered employment at the company after the successful completion of internship?

A. There is no guarantee that hiring company will offer employment to the candidate upon successful completion of internship programme.

Q. What if the candidate wants to quit the internship programme in between for various reasons.

A. The hiring company shall decide whether to continue engaging the intern.

Q. Internship Fairs - What is it?

A. These are exhibitions/road shows or events conducted at various locations for candidates to come and interact with hiring companies and understand better about the various internship opportunities offered by various companies. Candidates to register for the internship programme of their interest based on the vacancies published by the hiring companies.

Q. Schedule of Internship Fairs in all IT Parks

A. As of now internship fairs are planned to be held at Kozhikode, Kochi and Trivandrum. The dates of the same shall be announced on a time-to-time basis via newspapers, social media and e-mail communications.


For Companies

Q. How can companies be a part of IGNITE Internship Programme?

A. Registration must be done online by visiting https://ignite.keralait.org/

Q. What is the eligibility required for a company to register for Ignite Internship Programme?

A. IT/ITeS companies in Kerala based inside IT Parks or member of any of the following association and recommended by KSUM, GTech and CAFIT.

Q. Who will recruit the interns under the internship programme?

A. Recruitment of interns will be done by the respective hiring companies from the pool of interns that have registered for the various vacancies made available under various internship vacancies on the “Ignite” website.

Q. Will companies get funding under Ignite Internship Programme?

A. Yes, companies will be eligible to claim Rs. 5000/month per candidate for up to six months under Ignite Internship programme. However, companies should pay a minimum of Rs 10,000 (including the government stipend of Rs. 5000/month for the duration of six months).

Q. How much should a company contribute for the stipend of an intern?

A. The hiring company should contribute a minimum of Rs 5,000 (excluding the government stipend of Rs. 5000/month for the duration of six months).

Q. What is the stipend that an intern receives?

A. An intern should be eligible for a minimum stipend of Rs 10,000/month from the hiring company ((including the government stipend of Rs. 5000/month for the duration of six months).

Q. How should a company receive the funding from Government of Kerala?

A. The hiring companies must raise single invoice at the end of the internship programme (companies are eligible to claim only Rs. 5000/month for a period six months per intern irrespective of the longer duration of internship).

Q. Can a company recruit candidates who have not registered in Ignite web portal?

A. No, the candidate has to complete the online registration by visiting https://ignite.keralait.org/ to be considered for the internship program officered by the hiring companies.

Q. Can a candidate undertake internship in a company that has not registered in Ignite web portal?

A. No, both the candidate and company should equally register to avail the benefit of the internship scheme.

Q. Who should supervise the interns?

A. The hiring companies will be supervising the interns however Kerala IT parks will run periodical surveys to take feedback from interns.

Q. Should companies provide assets to interns?

A. This is the sole discretion of the companies and the depending upon the nature of internship program called for by the hiring companies.

Q. Can companies terminate interns if they do not abide by company’s policies?

A. Yes, this is at the discretion of the hiring companies.

Q. Can companies allow interns to work remotely under Ignite internship programme?

A. Yes, however this is a decision that is taken by the hiring company.
